Mission Statement:
The children we serve will not have to go to school without the proper clothing, shoes, and tools that will cause them to stand out as different. We believe going to school prepared will help them learn and be better able to finish school and go beyond the cycle of poverty into which they were born. The children we serve will not be hungry on weekends when school is out and they have no access to breakfast and lunch. We believe children should have the opportunity to grow, learn and be a child for as long as they can while receiving the basic needs as all other children. We are and always have been an all volunteer organization with all donations going to the children we serve.
Help 4 Kids was established in 1989 to provide basic necessities to the children of the working poor in Horry County. Children don't get to choose the world into which they are born. If it's a world filled with poverty neglect and or abuse of any kind it is the children who suffer. Feeling poorly about themselves they have little or no confidence and self esteem. Help 4 Kids is dedicated to helping every child in need feel good about themselves by providing new shoes, book bags, school supplies so they can walk into the classroom with head held high and not feel ashamed. It is proven that when they are even with their peers they make better grades and do better in class.
Back Pack Buddies is a part of Help 4 Kids. Children who receive free breakfast and lunch at school sometimes go hungry on weekends when school is out. Each week volunteers pack up over 500 snack packs to be delivered to schools and to homes of children identified as being in this group. The snack pack includes: Juice, Soup, Applesauce or pudding, cereal and snacks.
